ANNUAL COMMUNITY SUMMER JAM and COOKOUT

Each year Restoring Lives Community Development Corporation (RLCDC) joins forces with NEW LIFE ANOINTED MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL and celebrates the culturel and diversity of Prince William County. Citizens of the community enjoy a day filled with fun activities, sports and other games, information and plenty of give-aways!  During the event, RLCDC gives away food, clothing and book bags full of school supplies!  We believe that this event gets our children excited and motivated to start the new school year off right! Since its inception, RLCDC has distributed approximately 8000 backpacks filled with school supplies.  Another component of the Community Summer Jam and Cookout is The Community Business Showcase.  Local area business owners are invited to display their products and services to the over 800 visitors expected to attend the Community Summer Jam and Cookout!

RESTORING LIVES MENTORING/LIFE COACHING INITIATIVE

On September 1, 2011, Restoring Lives Community Development Corporation and Prince William County Public Schools entered into a partnership agreement through the Community and Business Engagement Office to enhance the education of PWCS students by sharing cumulative knowledge, skills, and resources which will positively impact student achievement, work readiness, and community involvement.

The initial group that will benefit from this initiative is young men from elementary school through high school. It is our goal that through our mentoring and life coaching initiative, our young men will become better students, citizens, husbands, fathers, and community leaders while succeeding in their professional careers. The S.O.S. Mentoring Initiative is now in six local area schools in Prince William County.  Male volunteers are needed to serve as mentors (this is not your traditional mentoring relationship).  Please contact us to find out more.

ANNUAL HOLIDAY COMMUNITY OUTREACH

The holidays can put a great deal of strain and pressure on our finances and families. This time can be particularly overwhelming to families who lack the financial resources to obtain food and toys for their children at Christmas. Restoring Lives Community Development Corporation distributes food and groceries to families in the community at Thanksgiving and Christmas.  In addition, we are a designated host for Toys for Tots in the Woodbridge area.  To date, we have assisted over 1200 families, and distributed over 15 tons of food and toys during the holiday season.

ANNUAL GOLF CLASSIC AND CHARITY BRUNCH

Throughout the year, Restoring Lives Community Development Corporation hosts several fundraising events. Our major fundraiser is the annual golf tournament.  Each year our tournament is held at one of the top area golf courses.  Past venues have included Old Hickory, Augustine and Bull Run. Players compete for top honors while helping to raise money for our community initiatives, including our College Scholarship fund and, more recently, Virginia Wounded Warrior Program and Play for Pink (The Breast Cancer Research Foundation).
